District - Grinnell-Newburg Community Schools

District

Welcome!  The Grinnell-Newburg School District is a prekindergarten through 12th grade, public education institution that brings students, families, educators, and community members together to create an environment of lifelong learning, achievement and excellence.  Quality, caring teachers, dedicated staff, and supportive families are the hallmarks of our district.

Academics, fine arts, and athletics are highly valued and passionately supported. Comprehensive programs are available to all students in these areas.  To assist students' learning experiences and to enhance students' opportunities, the district issued over 1,000 laptop computers to students in grades 5th through 12th during the 2012 academic year.

The district is in strong financial condition.  The June 30, 2012 general fund balance was $4,307,685.04.  Although the economy has been lagging in recent years, the district has still efficiently allocated necessary resources to district programs.  Currently, there are sufficient reserves to cover any shortfalls that may occur in state or federal funding.

Bordered by Grinnell College on the town’s east side, and by Iowa Valley Community College District – Grinnell on the west, the Grinnell-Newburg School District collaborates with both institutions to provide expanded opportunities for students and staff.

The Grinnell-Newburg School District is the 53rd largest public school district in Iowa, out of 361 public school districts. Located halfway between Des Moines and Iowa City just north of Interstate 80, the Grinnell-Newburg Schools serve students in Poweshiek and Jasper counties.
