Dear Grinnell-Newburg Family and Friends,

Congratulations to all of our staff, teachers, parents, guardians, community partners, Board of Education, and administration for hosting an amazing school year. I am very grateful to all who have engaged our students over the course of the year! The pictures tell the story! “Oh The Places We Go”.... “Oh The Places”, the memories, the learning, the accomplishments are now pages of history of the 2017-18 school year. What a great year! Thank you for affording me the opportunity to be a part of this fabulous community and school district.

Graduation
Congratulations to all our graduating seniors! It was a very special event this past weekend, as each student proudly walked across the stage to receive their diplomas - all that hard work was worth it! I wish a very special encouragement to you all as you move forward into the next chapters of your lives - good luck, and bloom where you’re planted!

Published! Congratulations to Mia Greenwell-Sherman
In a contest sponsored by Creative Communications/Poetic Power, Mia Greenwell-Sherman's poem "Running" was selected for publication in a book that features today's best student writers. This is an honor, as most students are not invited to be published. Congratulations Mia!

Middle School Celebration Assembly
The Middle School enjoyed a rousing end-of-year celebration assembly, complete with a line-dance performed by Middle School teachers. Tony Stenberg, Tammy Wacha of Grinnell Mutual, Officer Mike Dickenson from the police department, and incoming Middle School Principal Clay Harrold were judging the grade level Team Cheers.

Go the Distance Day
Go the Distance Day is a month-long event highlighting the importance of physical activity in a healthy lifestyle. Fairview Elementary, along with other schools and youth organizations across Iowa, took part by planning a 30-minute physical activity event to get kids moving. To top off this month-long endeavor, they planned an afternoon of fun physical activities at stations, such as an obstacle course, relay races, dancing, and noodle tag!
