Dear Grinnell Newburg Board of Education, Staff, Families and Friends:
Happy Summer! Summer has officially arrived and the Grinnell Newburg SLICK program is in full swing with our AmeriCorp partnership. You may see AmeriCorp members throughout the community supporting not only the SLICK program, but also the Drake Library, Faulconer Gallery, Cultural Arts Center, and Unity Point Day Camp! It was wonderful to see so many of our very own GHS, recent and former graduates, participate in the AmeriCorp program. Our students throughout the community will benefit from these excellent role models. Thank you for serving our students in various ways throughout our community.
Summer school:
Approximately 60 students are participating in SLICK (Summer Learning is Cool for Kids) this summer. They are off to an amazing start! The SLICK program is being held at Davis Elementary School.
Construction Project Update:
Our summer construction projects are also in full swing. You will see workers at all five of our schools throughout the summer completing roof repairs, stone cap repairs, some boiler replacements, and electrical work to name a few of the projects. Please use caution when driving or parking on the west side of the high school as you head to the ballpark. Workers will be using equipment to gain access to repair the stone caps and remove some of the siding on south and west side of the gym and auditorium.
Administrators Leadership Training:
Next week our Administrators will be traveling to Cedar Falls to participate in (the first two of six sessions over the course of the year) “Balanced Leadership Training for School Improvement”.
We are looking forward to this leadership development training.
Baseball & Softball Highlights:
The Tigers are off to a great season! I hope you can come out to enjoy watching our teams play. See game schedule for this upcoming week below.
