Dear Grinnell-Newburg Board of Education, Staff, Families and Friends:
I hope everyone enjoyed the 4th of July festivities in Grinnell! The summer is swiftly moving by as we gear up for the start of the 2019-20 school year. I look forward to the start of every school year! July is a busy time in the district office as we prepare for the start of school, stay on top of our construction projects, and attend professional development training in order to enhance our student learning experiences this fall.
Construction update:
A project update will be presented to the Board on Wednesday July 10 at 6:00. One item that will be discussed is the Bailey Park roofing project. During the project, asbestos ceiling pieces fell in some of the classrooms. Our team immediately responded and contact the IOWA Environmental Services, Inc. Iowa Environmental Services, INC tested the samples as well as the air. Air samples look good (no asbestos detected). A report to the DNR will be filed by the assessment company. We will keep a record of this report on file as well. This report, once received, will be available for the public to review.
Board Meeting:
There will be a Grinnell-Newburg School Board Meeting this Wednesday, July 10, at 6:00 at GHS in the Boardroom. CMBA will be present to share information regarding the Facilities ADHOC progress. Estes Construction will also be available to update the Board on our summer projects.
