Happy Friday! This week’s update provides upcoming information that you may want to keep on your radar.
Registration Night August 1, 2019:
Registration night is quickly approaching this August 1, 2019 from 4:00 - 7:00 in the High School Library. Please know that this registration night is only for those who need assistance to register and have not done so online. It is important that you have your student registered in order for the principals to assign your student to a class roster or courses in a timely manner. Other documents provide our staff important information in order to meet the needs of your students. Thank you for completing this important step.
Back to School Newsletter Booklet:
Once again we have an informational newsletter that is filled with important information for you and your family. It is available here, online, and hard copies of the booklet can be found in your student’s school office. We have hard copies also available at Fareway, Hy-Vee, McNally’s, Mayflower Office, Walmart & Saints Rest. The 2019-20 calendar is on the last page of the document for your use. School Supply lists, registration fees, school picture dates, contact information, and orientation dates are just some of the important informational pieces that you will find in this valuable resource.
Davis Elementary School Update:
I want to thank all of our students, staff, and team who assisted this past week in transitioning our students to the High School for the summer SLICK program and Summer Day Camp programs. What an amazing team! These programs have been temporarily moved to the High School as the roof at Davis was showing potential instability. Therefore, we made the decision to move all students to the High School until further notice. Please know that there is transportation available from Davis if your student needs a ride to the high school. The morning breakfast and lunch meals are being held at the high school until further notice. Please contact the summer school principal, Josh Ellis (josh.ellis@grinnell-k12.org), or your Day Camp Coordinator if you need further information about the program.
These two photos above show the area of construction at Davis Elementary School. The roof is being fixed as well as some broken bricks. Once the bricks are replaced, the workers will power wash the brick and it will look very clean.
High School is also having broken bricks replaced. This will be power washed and the bricks will look clean. I have seen the work done at Bailey Park and the new brick has blended very nicely.
Community Meal for July 23, 2019:
The Community Meal is being moved from Davis to the High School for July 23, 2019 due to the construction at Davis.
County Fair this weekend:
Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Well the Poweshiek County Fair is being held this weekend!
