Dear Grinnell Newburg Board of Education, Staff, Family, and Friends:

Happy Friday before the first day of school! All staff is looking forward to welcoming our students back to school for the 2022-23 school year! I hope that you enjoy a wonderful weekend. We hope that you are gearing up for an amazing year.

Emergency Practice Test:

Football scrimmage this evening:

This evening the football team will be scrimmaging on the practice field. It looks like the 11th ave to sunset intersection will be open for families to park on the old tennis courts from across the practice field. The turf project is in its final stages but was not ready for tonight’s events. If you are coming to the scrimmage game, please bring a Gatorade donation as your entry ticket.   The preview portion for all teams this evening has been canceled. It has been suggested that you bring a lawn chair. There are some bleacher seats available.

Lemonade Stand Library:

Lily Kolpin and Clara Seney had a lemonade stand in July and raised almost $200 for books for their libraries at Fairview and Davis. Mrs. Pease gave them some ideas on a wishlist, and they also selected some of their own books. They’re pictured presenting a few of the books to Mrs. Pease. Nice work!

Haircuts at Sharp Barbering:

Sharp Barbering saw over 75 students for a free haircut as they geared up to head back to school. Students from Grinnell, BGM, Newton, Tama, and SE Polk County signed up for the free event. Thank you, Sharp Barbering, for supporting our students as they return to the classroom. Also, thank you to Green States Credit Union for donating supplies to support students.
