Weekly Update: September 23rd 2022
September 23, 2022
Dear Grinnell Newburg Board of Education, Staff, Families, and Friends:
Fall has arrived, and cooler temperatures bring crisp Iowa mornings once again! This weekend we celebrate the beginning of fall with the annual “Kites Over Grinnell Community Activity,” sponsored by our local Rotary Club. This week students in grades K-6 designed their kites and built them during art class to fly at the event on Saturday at Ahrens Park. The event runs from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Hot Dogs, chips, and water will be available free of charge. The event is also free. See flyer for further details. Kites Over Grinnell Flier

Homeland Security Facility Assessment:
The building administrators, lead custodians, superintendent, police, emergency management, and technology director have participated in the homeland security assessment facility assessment grant program. This grant program, if we qualify following the results of the assessment, will enable the district to receive dollars to enhance our safety and security entryways and camera and door operations systems. Although the assessment is lengthy, we have learned a great deal about how we can enhance our protocols even further. I want to thank the police department and EMA for participating with us as partners in this activity.
Board Meeting September 28, 2022:
The Board of Education will hold their meeting this next Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. The Board will participate in Board Doc Training beginning at 5:15 in the board room at GHS. This new Board document training session will be the final step before we go live with our new board meeting system. We look forward to the change. The public will find a test link on our website early next week to see the board agenda. We will parallel the google doc form that we currently use along with the board documents form of agendas for this training session.
