Weekly Update: December 21st 2022
Weekly Update: December 21, 2022
Dear Grinnell-Newburg Board of Education, Staff, Family, and Friends:
The 2022 Winter Break begins in just a few short hours! I hope you have time to relax and enjoy memorable moments with family and friends. We will start this break with the arctic blast heading our way. Please be safe if you are traveling, and most importantly, be prepared! Wishing you and your family an extraordinary Holiday Break!
Winter Break Information:
The winter break schedule is as follows:
Winter break for students will be December 22-January 2. Students will be dismissed at 1:00 P.M. today. Students will resume classes on January 3, 2023. Staff will return on January 2 for professional development day.
Weather-related closings:
Due to the forecast and predictions of the arctic blast heading through central Iowa, the District Office and all school facilities will be closed on December 22nd and 23rd. The wind chill, coupled with the blizzard-like predictions, is too risky for our custodial crew to clear parking lots. The crew will clear the lots once the storm has passed and it has been determined safe to travel. All buildings will be closed on December 26, 2022, for the Holiday. All activities, rental events, and practices will be canceled until December 27th.
The City of Grinnell declared emergency snow removal and parking restrictions:
The City of Grinnell has declared parking restrictions beginning Wednesday, December 21, and will expire at 6:00 AM on December 25. In the central business area, all vehicles should be removed from the streets beginning at 11:00 PM this evening until the snow has been cleared.
Offices:
The school building offices are closed during winter break and will reopen on January 2, 2023.
The District office will be open on December 27, 28, and 29 from 7:30-4:00 PM.
