Weekly Update: February 10th, 2023

Dear Grinnell Newburg Board of Education, Staff, Families, and Friends:

Happy Friday! I would like to thank everyone for their patience and support as decisions are made regarding late starts due to weather conditions. Please be sure that you check your Infinite Campus portal to ensure that you have emergency messaging checked for where you would like to receive emergency notifications.

March 7 Vote:  Elks Club Location Polls 7:00 AM-8:00 PM

The Grinnell-Newburg School District is holding a special election on March 7, 2023. This one ballot question asks our voters to approve moving $.67 from our Management Fund Levy to the PPEL Levy. This will not raise your taxes. We ask you to vote on March 7, 2023, at the Elk’s Lodge. This is the only Polling Place open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This move will enable the district to support much-needed building facility work.

National School Counselors Week:

We are grateful for our school counselors and celebrate you this week!  Thank you for all that you do for our students and families! Shauna Grewe (Bailey Park), Amy Harper (Fairview), Nikki Laug (Davis),  Paula Simon and Casey McDermott (Middle School), Cass Stubbs, and Amanda Pearce (High School). Thank you for your service to our Grinnell Tiger Families.

Light Up the Night Dance:

The Daddy Daughter’s dance is quickly approaching. Be sure to look at the flyer below for ticket purchases and information!

Pancake Dinner:

SHE Counts is having a Pancake Dinner fundraiser for the 1st Gen scholarship on Feb. 22 from 5-7 pm at West Side Diner. They are looking for volunteers to help serve and clean up. This will be a great opportunity if you are looking for service hours. Here is a sign up link for students.

Legislative Coffees:

The Grinnell LWV is once again hosting Legislative Coffees in the morning on March 4th and April 1st in person at the Drake Community Library and on Zoom.
