SPRING MUSICAL

FREAKY FRIDAY premieres tonight at 7:00 PM in the Grinnell High School Auditorium! Performances are also on Saturday at 7:00 PM and Sunday, April 21st. This “polished, peppy, modern fairy tale” musical which features a driving pop-rock score is heart-warming, hilarious, and relatable! ACT TESTING

ACT Students, reminder the exam is on Wednesday, April 24th at the Harris Center on Grinnell College's campus. The exam will start at 8:30am. This is a completely online exam, so please make sure your computer is fully charged for test day. Please check your email with information and other tasks that you need to take care of for the exam. 

 

GRINNELL-NEWBURG CSD SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Hourly Summer Technology Position 30-40 hrs/week:

- Must be able to work as part of a team.

- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and communicate if you have questions about the assigned task(s).

- Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

- Clean, prep, move, sort, and check out staff and student devices for the next school year at all 5 school buildings.

- Clean and prep other hardware as needed. 

- Must be reliable and maintain confidentiality of any supplied passwords, security protocols, and student information.

- Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 40 lbs.

- Must be able to provide your own transportation between buildings as needed throughout the workday. 




 

ART SHOW

Stop in and check out the Grinnell High School & Middle School Art Show going on now at the Stewart Gallery located in the Grinnell Arts Center at 926 Broad Street. Gallery hours are: Tue-Fri 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 to Noon. The show runs through April 27th. 

 

ALL THINGS PROM ~ A Night of a Thousand Lights

Flowers: Please be sure to get your orders in early! Prom falls on Mother’s Day weekend so the flower shops will be swamped.

Reserve your space for a delightful meal in town hosted by Grinnell College Dining Services in an elegant, relaxed, local setting. The meal will be preceded by a soft drink social hour with photoR opportunities at 5:30 pm. Dinner is served at 6 pm at JRC 101. View the menu here.  Make a reservation here. Prom Volunteers Needed: Junior Parents, the prom sponsors are asking for help after school during the week before prom May 6th-11th and May 13th at 9:00 AM for clean up. It would be greatly appreciated, especially the 11th and 13th. Many hands make light work!  Volunteers reach out to Jill Scheck at jill.scheck@grinnell-k12.org

 

Prom tickets are on sale now!  Juniors and Seniors, please check your email for prom ticket information!  Tickets must be purchased by Friday, May 10th at 3:15pm! Bringing a non-GHS guest? Be sure to pick up a form in the office to be completed before Prom.

STUDENT COUNCIL EVENTS

Bike Rally 1410 Elm St--Friday, April 19th, 6:30 AM- 7:30 AM breakfast and social time; meet at Chloe Alger's home and leave for school at 7:45 AM for school as a group! Support green living by riding your bike to school. 

 

SENIORS

Seniors - If you are looking for extra time to work at school and receive some help as we close in on your final days here at GHS, Ms. Barker will be staying after school on the following dates:

May 1st

May 8th

May 15th

Please don't miss this opportunity if you are needing some extra support.

SCHOOL PERMIT

Eligible for a school permit form? If you need the form signed by Mr. Seney, just email karma.werner@grinnell-k12.org asking for such along with your driver license number and she will get the correct form ready for you to pick up in the office. 

ATTENDANCE

Parents and guardians can call the recorded attendance line any time 24 hours a day. The number is 641-236-1414. An automated email will be sent every Friday as a reminder to check your students’ attendance online to ensure that it’s correct.

Grinnell High School Dance Guest Form

 

All Grinnell High School students requesting to bring a non-Grinnell High School student to a school dance must complete this form and return it to the main office by NOON on the day before the dance. The minimum grade level for all guests is ninth grade and all guests must be under the age of 21. If the guest has graduated from high school, the Grinnell High School student’s parent/guardian must sign indicating that they accept responsibility for the guest in place of the requested school administrator’s signature for high school guests.

 

G-NSD Administration has the right to deny any request. 

Only one guest is allowed per Grinnell High School student.  

Guest ID is required at all dances. 

 

As a Grinnell High School student, I understand that all Grinnell High School rules apply at school functions. I understand that dress code must be followed and dancing must be appropriate for high school dances. I will take full responsibility to inform and ensure my guest complies to these rules. The guest must have photo identification in his/her possession.
