Beginning Tuesday morning, May 19th, the intersection of Penrose St. and 10th Ave. will be closed for utility work related to the new Grinnell-Newburg Community School District Elementary Campus. The closure is expected to last up to three weeks. During this time, Penrose St. is closed to through traffic.
What to expect:
The intersection of Penrose St. and 10th Ave. will be fully closed, no through traffic will be allowed
Local access north of 10th Ave. will remain available from the north (via 16th Ave.)
Local access south of 10th Ave. will remain available from the south
Drivers will need to follow posted detour signage
The north driveway will be converted to a 2-way drive during this time
Access to Ahrens Park, GARC, the Ahrens Foundation and District Offices, and Early Learning Center:
All access will be from the north driveway only, accessible via 16th Ave.
The south driveway will be closed during construction
