Free Reduced Meal Application Information

Applying for free or reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides immediate financial relief, ensuring children receive nutritious, low-cost or free breakfasts and lunches. It reduces household food insecurity, supports better academic performance, and often unlocks additional benefits like waived school fees (textbooks, sports). Applications are confidential, secure, and available to all, including non-citizens, based on income guidelines.

Applications are accepted at any time throughout the year. If you have previously applied but have had a change in income or employment, you are welcome to reapply. You can pick up a paper application at any school building office or apply through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

Reasons to apply:

  • Significant Cost Savings: Eligible families can pay no more than $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch.

  • Improved Nutrition & Health: NSLP meals must meet federal nutrition standards, providing a nutritious, balanced meal that helps reduce food insecurity and obesity.

  • Academic Performance: Students who consume school meals show improved academic outcomes in math and English.

  • Title I Funding: These applications are a primary metric for determining the percentage of low-income students in a school, which directly impacts the allocation of federal Title I, Part A funds.

  • Technology and Internet Access: Schools use this data to qualify for programs like the E-Rate program, which provides discounts on internet access and telecommunications services, as well as grants for student devices.
