INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT 24/25 School Year
The Grinnell-Newburg School District is looking to hire an Interim Superintendent for the 2024/25 school year.
Term - July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025
Contract length - 260 days
Salary - Commensurate with experience

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The board seeks to employ an Interim Superintendent to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the board, to inspire, lead, guide, and direct every member of the administrative, instructional, and support services staff in achieving the highest standard of excellence. To oversee and administer the use of all district facilities, property, and funds with a maximum of efficiency so that each student enrolled in the district may be provided with an appropriate and effective education for the 2024-25 school year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under general supervision of the Board of Directors, the Superintendent performs the following responsibilities within the overarching framework of the state-mandated standard.
Instructional Leadership:
- Ensures that intellectually rigorous and coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, and assessment is available to all students, in accordance with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy
- Ensures that the goals of the school district are reflected in its educational program and operations
- Ensures that all school buildings have and use intervention programs to identify students in need of additional assistance academically, socially, and emotionally
- Assist in the transition to build a successful administration team
Community Development:
- Represents the board as a liaison between the school district and the community during this transition
- Works with key community stakeholders to build community relationships
- Facilitates communication between the community and the board
Human Resource Management:
- Delegates, as appropriate, powers and/or duties assigned by policy, law, or this job description to district administrators and other district and through them all district staff
- Evaluates District leadership and provides ongoing coaching for improvement for growth and development
- Counsels with employees to resolve complaints, challenges, and other matters relating to personnel management and works with administrative team on difficult or sensitive personnel matters
- Administers provisions of negotiated agreement and recommends to the board changes that would support the district
Fiscal Responsibility:
- Oversees district financial planning and management in coordination with the school business official and in compliance with law including the annual budget
- Establishes and maintains effective efficient procedures and effective controls for all expenditures of school district funds in accordance with the adopted budget, and submits it to the board for review and approval
- Oversees maintenance of district buildings, grounds, and equipment and ensures that insurance carrier has up-to-date information on all district-owned buildings, equipment, and supplies, and insurance coverage is adequate to cover potential loss
School Board Relations:
- Attends and participates in board meetings
- Oversees compliant implementation of board policies and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances
- Prepares and submits to the board recommendations on all matters requiring board action
- Actively supports the board’s professional development needs
- Keeps the board informed of trends in education
Grinnell Newburg Qualification Requirements:
- Must have a current valid Superintendent license from the State of Iowa
- Must have previous Superintendent experience (5 years preferred or more) in a district of 1500 students or larger
- Or previously a leader in a large educational organization (ie, AEA or DOE)
- Or previously an Associate Superintendent in a large school district
Food Service Positions- (2- GHS 3.5 hour, 1- GMS 3.5 hour; 1 - BP 4 hour)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe certified-- preferred
- Computer Experience
- Ability to perform basic record keeping, math, and measurement skills
- Friendly and courteous to others
MS Special Education Teacher Start in January 24
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA, Iowa Teacher's Certification are required
- Previous 5-8 teaching experience is prefered, but not required
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrate the ability to enhance academic performance and support for and implementation of the District’s student achievement goals
- Meet and instruct assigned classes
- Use research-based instructional strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of all students
- Create a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of all students
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Strat I or Strat II Endorsement

Davis Elementary Music Teacher .5 FTE
- Certificate, Endorsement, or other legal credentials required
- Degree(s) required in area of major subject
- Highly qualified teacher credentials
- Positive demeanor with a focus on building relationships
MS 7th Grade Volleyball Coach
