For Parents of New Students:

Parents should begin the registration process by contacting the building your student will be attending.  We recommend parents do this so that we can begin preparing to serve your student.  Parents are invited to come in for a tour of the building, and to meet your student's building principal and administrative staff.  Please call 641-236-2700 for further information.  Appointments are not necessary but are recommended. 


Online registration can be handled in the convenience of your home.  Before you begin the process, you will need to set up an account on your parent portal.  To set up an account you will need a key code. Key codes can be obtained from your building administrative assistant. Please enter your key code and follow the steps to set up your Campus Portal account.  You will be able to create your own username and password.



Initial Setup:       You will only need to do this once.

  1. Click on the Help button in the bottom right hand corner of the page. 
  2. Click on the option “If you have been assigned a Campus Portal Activation Key.

Once your account has been set up and you have gained access to your Parent Portal:
  1. In the bottom left hand corner of the page you will find the link for Online Registration. After clicking on the link, you will be redirected to a page that gives you two different options.  

  2. Select  “Register an Existing Student” if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • Your child has attended the district in the past.

  • Your child is an incoming kindergarten student and attended one of the Grinnell preschools in the past.

  • You are new to the district, but have called into the school system, and we have put your information in the system already.

  • Your child is scheduled to attend the Fairview Preschool this fall.


If for any reason you do not meet the following criteria, please contact your student's building for assistance.

A couple handy hints as you are going through the registration module:

  1. When you begin you will be given a Confirmation Number.  Please save this number. If you need to stop and return to the application, this will be needed to access your saved application.  

  2. To access linked documents, please right-click (the button on the right side of your mouse) on the link.  Select “Open in a new window.”  Documents will not open if you left-click on the link.

  3. To move through each section use the “Next” button.  To move from section to section, click on the “Save and Continue” button.


Fee Payment and Lunch Accounts

After submitting your registration application, please return to your portal account to submit payment for your student’s instructional fees.


Once in your portal account, click on the “Payments” tab to submit your online payment.  Families applying for Free and Reduced: Please submit your forms before beginning the payment process.
