Weekly Update, July 28, 2017        
 
Dear Families and Friends,
 
The first day of school is just around the corner, and like you, we are completing our preparations for the upcoming school year.  If you have not submitted your online registration application yet, please hop on your Parent Portal to submit your application.  Our staff is continuing to process the incoming applications- a huge thank you to all those who have submitted already!  
 
There are a few important pieces of information we want to make fully sure you are aware of.  I  don’t want you to miss anything, so please read carefully to the end.
 
 
Registration Night:
The District will be hosting an on-site registration night this Tuesday, August 1 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. in the High School Media Center at 1333 Sunset St.  Parents are invited to come in and fill out the online registration application on one of our computers.  Staff will be available to assist and answer any questions, and to help with any necessary paperwork.  Our Nursing and Transportation Staff will also be available for questions.  Additionally, an I-Smiles Coordinator will be on site to provide free dental screenings.  
 
Transportation Information: PLEASE READ
We have discovered problems with the Transportation detail on the Online Registration Application.  The information parents are entering is not transferring into the system correctly.  This is causing significant complications with the busing schedules.  We apologize to any parents who have already submitted their transportation needs on the Online Registration Application.  
 
We are asking all parents to fill out a separate form, found here, to submit your transportation needs.  Please know that it is imperative that EVERY parent fill this out, in order for us to plan accordingly for our bus routes.  We ask that parents submit this form as soon as possible, no later than Thursday, August 3.  Thank you for your understanding.  
 
New Start and End Times:
For planning purposes, please know that end times are changing for several schools.  School start times at all buildings will be 8:00 a.m.  School end times at all buildings will be 3:15 p.m.
 
School Supply Lists
School supplies lists have been finalized, and can be found on the district website (please visit your building page for building-specific lists).
 
Problems logging into Parent Portal:
Due to the extremely large volume of calls from parents requesting a forgotten username or password to log into the Parent Portal, we have made some adjustments to the system. Parents will now have access retrieve and change your username passwords on your own.
For those parents who have been waiting for assistance with username and password retrieval, thank you for your patience with us.  We hope this is a quick and easy solution for you.  
 
A few things to keep in mind:
Requests for a username or password will require an Account Security Email address. A request for a forgotten passwords will require you to choose a new password- you will need to choose a 'strong' password.  District administrative staff will still be able to manually reset passwords if needed.  Please contact your building administrative assistant if you are unable to reset your password.  Please note, the initial User Account setup (and any future management) needs to be done via the Portal site, preferably with a computer and not a mobile device. The Mobile App cannot currently be used to manage User Account passwords.
 
Free and Reduced Fees:
Parents are reminded that forms need to be completed prior to paying instructional fees.  The Application for Free and Reduced Fees AND the Standard Waiver Form must be returned and processed in order to qualify for a reduction or waiver of instructional fees.  Information and Forms are available on the district website.
