What’s Going Well:

Thank you to our amazing GNCSD staff, families, and students for helping kickstart the 23-24 School Year off in a positive direction!

We are happy to report that all our students have made it to and from their buildings safely riding school transportation!  At Grinnell Newburg Community School safety is the number one priority.  A special thank you to our transportation director Mr. Astelle, our mechanics, and all bus and car drivers who play a vital role in our district.

Davis Elementary has started its NWEA and FAST reading tests this week.

Last Friday the football field flooded with roughly 86 players between Varsity and Freshman/sophomore, 14 Tiger Paw dancers, 17 cheerleaders, and our Marching band consisting of 110 students!  Great performance by all!

A special thank you to Hayleigh Kincart and Jenny Hadenfeldt for sitting down and sharing the exciting things happening with Tier II interventions for literacy and Just Words.

Above and Beyond

GNCSD loves to celebrate those in our community who go above and beyond in making our district and the town of Grinnell great!  Recently we recognized Mindy Kostow, our technology director, for her dedication to our students and for seeing through a fantastic tech grant that will get our entire district new devices!  Also, Sharp Barbering was recognized for its community involvement by hosting its 2nd annual Kids Free Haircut event.  Served 89 kids and had members in the community donate many items to make the day a huge success.
