Weekly Update: December 23, 2016

Dear Board of Education, Grinnell Staff and Friends:

The hallways are quiet, snow is falling, and our families are enjoying time together. Winter break has officially begun.  Whether you are traveling to see family, or spending time in Grinnell for the holidays, I wish you joy and happiness during this season.  My time here in Grinnell has been full of joy.  Grinnell is a wonderful place to call home, not only because of the historical features, wonderful shops, and schools, but more so because of the people who make Grinnell a special place to call home.  I hope that you join me during the 2017 school year to share our story at  #WeAreGrinnell on twitter. Today, as I reflect to write this final weekly update before the New Year, I can’t help but to have a smile on my face, as I think about all that we have accomplished in such a short time together.

I want to thank our Board of Education, Grinnell teachers and staff, students, and our community members for their support, care and kindness as we continue to provide the best learning environments for our students.

Davis Listening Tour:
I am spending time with teachers at each school to engage in conversations about what is going well, what we need to focus on, and the future opportunities for our students.  These conversations will assist us as we continue to develop the five phase strategic plan.  This week I was able to visit with Davis Elementary.  I will be meeting in the near future with the remaining schools in the district.
