Dear Grinnell-Newburg Board of Education, Staff, Families and Friends:
Happy New Year! Welcome back to school! It is my hope that this weekly update finds you well rested and enjoying the beginning of a brand new year and the start of an exciting new decade. It is my hope that this new year will bring you happiness, joy, and a journey that will be memorable for you. I look forward to our continued commitment to our students, staff and families of the Grinnell-Newburg School District. Our mission is that the Grinnell-Newburg School District, in partnership with the entire community will empower every student to become a lifelong learner who is a responsible, productive, and an engaged citizen within the global community. We are here to inspire our students to learn and grow, while challenging them to meet their goals. I hope that this year is another awesome year for all!
Infinite Campus information up to date?
Please remember to check your Infinite Campus portal to ensure that your information is up to date as we head into the Winter of 2020. It is my hope that the weather will remain pleasant and mild. Winters in Iowa, since I have been here, can be unpredictable. It is my hope that if a late start or cancellation were to occur, that I will make the call to our families by 5:30 am. I have also set up a system for our coaches and sponsors who have early morning practices to receive information early enough before students leave for these practices in the event of inclement weather. Check with your coach or sponsor on how they will communicate with you in the event of a morning practice cancellation.
Board Meeting January 8, 2020:
Next week our Board will meet on January 8, 2020 in the Boardroom at 6:00 PM. The items on the agenda are mostly informational as we gear up for the second half of our school year. The Board agenda will be posted today for your review. We will recognize several donations from our community businesses. Thank you to: Office of Community Enhancement & Engagement $290.00 for negative lunch accounts. This donation helped out 12 families; Stephanie Hoopes from Awards Unlimited who donated $2,000 to go towards negative lunch balances. This donation helped out 46 of our family lunch accounts. RE/MAX Partners Realty donated classroom supplies for a 2nd Grade Classroom.
