Weekly Update: June 24, 2022

Dear Grinnell Board of Education, Staff, Families, and Friends:

Happy Friday! June is coming to a close already and summer is now in full swing. We hope this weekly update finds you and your family enjoying the summer!

The administrative team has been preparing for our return to school this August. We have been meeting with our local police department and emergency personnel to review safety protocols and security. The district will be implementing new pick-up and drop-off procedures for all students. All families will be required to sign in and sign out their students in the school buildings' offices in PreK-8th grade if your student is leaving school after the start or before the end of the day.  High School Students will also need guardian permission to leave the building. Parking for high school students will be on Sunset st (East Side of Building) and the North Parking (athletic entrance) lots only once Sunset construction is complete, and there is access to the lot. There will be no more street parking. It is essential that we keep all students' known whereabouts in the event of an emergency. The procedures will be a change for our families, and we ask that you follow these procedures for the safety of all students. The high school will have more detailed guidelines for students outlined in their handbook. Thank you for assisting us in keeping all students safe.

Turf Project:

The turf project continues to make progress. We hosted a special board meeting for a change order that required construction management to replace maintenance holes and drainage. This is a tight timeline. We hope for good weather and no more issues. I will keep you updated if we experience any problems that could cause a delay.
