Weekly What’s Going Well:

Happy Friday!

Congratulations to receiving a “Commendable” rating on the Iowas Performance Rating Profile.  A big thank you to all our students, parents, and staff for their hard work and dedication to student achievement!

Remember that November 7th is election day for their school board positions.  Additionally, there is a resolution to extend the current .67/1000 assessed value from 2026 to 2036.  This levy has been in place since 1996 and is not a new tax!!! See information here on PPEL vote.

This week’s video highlights the fall play Sherwood.  Please take a few minutes to view the video as Billy Lopatto and Jeslyn Voogd explain the amount of work that goes into preparing for the performance.  Additionally, they explained what double casting is and the challenges it presents to actors/actresses compared to traditional casting.  Last night was the opening, with two performances taking place tonight and Saturday at 7;30 pm and a matinee on Sunday at 3:00 pm.  Please come out and support these talented performers.

Exciting news! Our new iPads have arrived and the technology department is working at making the transition from old devices to new before we break in December.  Technology serves many functions including the acceleration of learning.

Do not forget to provide feedback on the Superintendent Search Survey.

The Board of Directors have stated multiple times the importance of feedback from all stakeholders.  Last week we had a hiccup in the survey, but since then it has been corrected.  Please take part in completing the survey that will help the Board in making a decision on the next Superintendent.  Thank you in advance for your participation.

Liam Crites and Cadel Connor represented the Grinnell-Newburg Boys Cross Country team well at the State meet.

Both runners had great performance on a bitter cold day to run at the State Cross Country meet.  Being that most of the varsity boys runners are underclassmen the future looks bright for the program.  Liam Crites placed 35th in a time of 16:52.6 and Cadel Conner placed 43rd in 16:57.5.

Cheerleading

GHS Cheerleading competes at the State Competition tomorrow at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Jacobson Exhibition Center. They will be competing with two stunt teams, as well as their Cheer Dance routine.  Good luck!
