Dear Grinnell-Newburg Board of Education, Staff, Families and Friends:
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that the Grinnell-Newburg School Family lost one of our own this past week. Jodie Gallagher, first grade teacher at Bailey Park, passed away on February 5, 2020. Our Tiger family will dearly miss Jodie. Please keep her family and our Tiger family in your thoughts during this difficult time. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-7 P.M. and mass service on Monday, at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
The principals are creating a schedule in order for all staff members at Bailey Park to attend her service and are making arrangements for staff at other schools to be at the service on Monday. I want to thank our principals, LINK, many parents, PTO and other community members for your support in insuring our students are supervised so that staff can attend the service who wish to attend. This amazing outreach of support and assistance is greatly appreciated.
Reminder February 17, 2020: This will be a make up day for students and staff. All students and staff will be in session on a regular schedule.
Next Week Advocacy Day:
Next week, I will be attending Advocacy Day with Superintendents from across Iowa. These sessions enable superintendents to discuss priorities with our legislators as they continue to develop bills in their subcommittees that may affect school finance and how we do business. I will share information regarding this event at our next Board meeting on February 12, 2020 at 6:00 P.M.
