Weekly Update: July 29, 2022

Dear Grinnell Newburg Board of Education, Staff, Family, and Friends:

As we head into August, we continue to prepare for the kick-off for the 2022-23 school year! Please review the following information below to ensure you are ready for school.

Important bus information, school supplies, registration, and free and reduced lunch forms are listed in this week's update!

I have been informed that Sunset Street from 8th Ave to the parking lot for students will be open for the first day of school. Just a reminder that there will be no street parking allowed. 11th avenue access to Sunset will not be open. Paving should begin the week of August 1st.

The Turf Project plan is predicted to be done on time, although we have had a few delays. We are anticipating that the August 19 scrimmage game will be played on the new turf! This is all contingent on the weather.

Health Needs Assessment

We want to hear from YOU!

We are conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment; this study is completed every three years to identify opportunities to improve the health of our communities. Surveys are currently being conducted via phone by Professional Research Consultants team members on behalf of UnityPoint Health – Grinnell. Poweshiek County residents being called are selected randomly.

An online survey is also available at prcsurvey.com/begin/Grinnell2022CHNA, or by scanning the attached QR code. Participants are encouraged to only complete one form of the Community Health Needs Assessment with either the online survey OR participating in the phone call. Once this assessment is complete, we will work to develop strategies and goals for improving the health of our community based on your feedback.

Your opinions are important to us, and we hope you will be able to take part in this research to better the health of our community! If you have any questions, we encourage you to contact our public health office at (641) 236-2385.

Tiger Express Newsletter 2022-2023  You will find information regarding the 2022-23 school year in this publication. It is a wonderful resource for your reference throughout the school year. We will have an updated version of additional new staff in the weeks ahead.

Our new Curriculum/DEI Director is Brianna Maschman! Welcome to Grinnell! She will begin with the district this August.  Brianna’s office will be located at the Middle School.

Online Registration for the 2022-2023 school year!

All of our students need to be officially registered on Infinite Campus, our student information system; click HERE to begin the online registration process. You will want to select new student if you have never attended our district. Make sure to select the 22-23 school year. Once you complete the registration, please reach out to me for your activation code for your parent portal account setup if you do not have one.

If you have a current parent portal account, you can log in and register through your portal account. To access your parent portal, click here. Please note that your Preschool and/or Kindergarten student(s) may not show up in the student section. If you have them listed in the "nonenrolled section," there is a box you can mark to register this student. If you have other children in the district, please update their information for the 22-23 school year as well. We need every student to have their information updated and online registration completed.

Registration Night at the High School

If you need assistance with the registration process, feel free to come to Grinnell High School on August 8th from 4-6 PM. We will be assisting families with the registration process and will be able to answer your questions. We will have computers available to register your student.
