Excitement is building as the Kites Over Grinnell event approaches. Our elementary students will begin assembling their kites next week. Be sure to come to Ahren’s Park on September 30th starting at 10:00 a.m. for kite flying and family fun. This year there will also be night kite flying, which many are excited about.
This week we brought our Transportation Director, Chris Astelle to the table and discussed the district’s need for bus drivers. Watch the video to get more information on what it takes to become a bus driver and see if you would be a good candidate. Applications can be found HERE or at the district office located at 925 Broad Street in downtown Grinnell.

Grinnell Tigers Homecoming week will kick off on October 3rd. It’s a fun week for our students, staff, and community. A reminder that entries for the homecoming parade are due by October 2nd.

Grinnell Newburg Homecoming Parade:
Grinnell-Newburg High School Homecoming Parade, sponsored and organized by Grinnell-Newburg Dollars for Scholars and the Grinnell Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held downtown on Thursday, October 5th. The Grinnell Tigers play Benton Community on Friday, October 6th at 7:30 pm at T.T. Cranny Field!
Lineup for the parade begins: 4:30 p.m. (Downtown: 4th Avenue & Park Street)
Parade Begins: 5:30 p.m.
All entries must be submitted by Monday, October 2nd to participate in the parade.

Fee Waiver Forms & School Fees
If your child(ren) qualifies for free or reduced-price meals, you may also be eligible for full or partial waiver of school fees. To be considered you must submit the fee waiver form to the District Office or your school building by October 4, 2023.

Families are also able to pay their school fees online through the parent portal or can bring checks/cash to their school. Notices will be mailed out in the weeks to come for any unpaid fees. Please contact your school or the district office with questions about school fees.
Kites Over Grinnell 2023
Kites over Grinnell will be held September 30, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ahrens Park. NEW this year will be the night kite flying from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.! Free food, spectacular kite flying, and family fun! Remember to bring your own kites and lawn chairs.
