Weekly Update: December 3, 2021

Dear Grinnell-Newburg Board of Education, Staff, Families, and Friends:

Happy Friday!  I hope that this email finds you well. The next few weeks will go by quickly as we head into the holiday season. Enjoy your weekend!

Needs Assessment: Please complete the survey to assist the district in planning next fall.  I have extended the deadline to keep the survey open until December 10, 2021.

Our school district has requested a Needs Assessment Survey conducted by the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB). The survey is designed to help us assess our strengths and areas of needed improvement, focusing on improved student achievement. We want your opinions and judgments in response to the brief survey linked below. The survey takes an average of 9 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous.

Just click the link below, or paste it into your browser and follow the instructions. Thank you for your participation and for helping to make improvements for our students. Would you please reply with any questions?

Upcoming Board Meeting:

The Board will meet on December 8 at the high school. The administrative team will present the State of the District information. We will also be recommending that the Board approve the commitment to match the dollars of the fundraising group to begin the Turf Project later this Spring. The complete board agenda will be coming out later today!

Vaccine Clinic:

Thank you to our families for participating in our recent vaccine clinic for students ages 5-11!  If you missed getting your student’s vaccine, you could contact the Iowa Department of Public Health at 641-236-2385 to schedule a time to receive it.

Police Teen Academy:

The Grinnell Police Department is searching for high school students to participate in a teen police academy. They need 12 students to participate for the academy to be held. This would be a great experience! Take a look!

We are so thankful for our local law enforcement and all they do for our community.  We especially love that they visit our students and show such love and care for them all. Find more information here.
